1. Summer preparations
- Question from MDM: what is happening if the number of refugees increases seriously during the following hot months?
- All the containers from the Blue Dot have AC. At the moment, a good share of the space inside the containers is under reorganization, but the full capacity of these containers will be available again in a few days.
- Good Neighbors: the children and their moms could be guided to the Blue Dot, where several services are available for them (games, coloring books, etc.).
- In the medical container the conditions are good for the time being. If the temperature would increase very much, MDM will have the capability to purchase air fans or mobile AC equipment to provide proper climateric conditions in the medical container.
2. Any Other Business
- Send Relief: two ecological toilets near the Blue Dot are very full. Right after the meeting, the situation was presented to the Chief of POA, who will contact the authorities able to fix this situation.
- The medium and long term plans of the authorities (1):
- During this or the next week (July 4th – July 17th), depending on the finalization of the preparatory activities and on the border police needs, all the tents and containers on the left side of the road (looking towards the border with Ukraine) will be moved on the right side or outside the border protection strip.
- On the right side a parking will be built, the works should start in September. Before this moment, the tents and containers from this area will be moved outside the border protection strip.
- During the weekly organizations meeting on Thursday, the moves will be discussed in detail. The moves are not complicated, as long as the current containers will be placed primarily, then all the others that are planned.
(1) On July 4th, 2022, at the border crossing in Siret the authorities with responsibilities in the area. After the conclusion of this meeting, the prefect of Suceava county, Mr. Gheorghe-Alexandru MOLDOVAN, offered the above information to the organizations present at the Siret border crossing.
