Mobile operators offer free services to refugees from Ukraine

To help refugees from Ukraine, Romanian mobile operators offer free services to Ukrainian refugees.

Thus, companies like Orange or Vodafone offer free SIM cards and internet and voice services.

Orange Romania supports refugees, but also Orange / Orange Romania Communications customers. Thus, for Ukrainian refugees, Orange cards are available at border crossings in Sighet, Siret, Isaccea, where NGO representatives distribute the Orange prepaid card free of charge. The cards are loaded with an initial options, and later they can be reloaded online with the card or in Orange stores. The free card includes the following benefits:

  • free international calls to Ukraine;
  • unlimited minutes and SMS in the Orange Romania network;
  • 2000 national and international minutes to landline or national SMS, of which 300 minutes / SMS are also international on EU mobile;
  • 6 GB national internet + 60 GB national internet bonus;
  • 0.02 cents / minute to Ukraine.

Orange Romania also supports Prepay Orange Romania users. Thus, users can have a free option that contains 60 international minutes to Ukraine (fixed / mobile). The option is activated by sending the text: ukraina / ukraine / ukraina / Ukraine / ukrain / ucrain to the phone number 321 and is valid for 30 days and can be consumed with an option of at least 5 euro credit.

Vodafone Romania also offers free services to refugees from Ukraine. They can benefit from prepaid cards in various customs points of Romania such as Vama Siret, Vama Halmeu, Vama Sighet, Albița, Sculeni and Vama Isaccea, but also in the Refugee Centers in Rădăuți, Maramureș, Sighet, Suceava, Botoșani, Siret, Tulcea, Galați and Iași, but also in Vodafone stores in Satu Mare, Maramureș, Suceava, Botoșani, Galați and Tulcea.

Vodafone cards included the following benefits:

  • 10GB National Net;
  • 100 minutes and national SMS;
  • Unlimited network minutes and SMS;
  • Bonus: 200 international minutes;
  • 300 international minutes with Ukraine.
