Civil Society Coordination Meeting on January the 5th, 2023 – Meeting Minutes

1. Medical first aid for refugees

The Kairos Association procured a stock of medicines according to the requests of immediate necessity, both for the Rădăuți Camp and the Medical Cabinet at the Siret Border Crossing Point. At the Rădăuți Camp, the high demands due to a large number of refugees, but also the seasonal colds, the stock is almost exhausted.

 

2. Medical office in PTF Siret

Starting from January 1, 2023, the doctor from the medical office in PTF Siret provides medical service through volunteer activity from Monday to Friday, designated by Medicine du Monde Grecia. During the weekend, the medical service is provided with the support of the Save the Children Organization. Since the Organization Medicine du Monde, through the volunteer doctor, submitted a proposal to UNHCR regarding the financing of the cost of the first aid medical service at Siret Douane starting on January 1, 2023, the response of UNHCR is awaited on this matter.

3. Supplying running water to organizations’ offices

The Rădăuțiul Civic: due to the low temperatures, the mains water supply system failed, and it was necessary to turn off the water from the main pipe.

Volunteer for Life, which is in charge of the maintenance of the facility, carried out an assessment, and following consultations with the Siret City Hall, respectively the Siret Border Crossing management, a solution to the situation was approved, for which implementation will take a time interval of 10 – 14 days.

 

4. The situation of the transit of Ukrainians

The IOM representative informs about the transit of refugees from Ukraine during this period. In the last week, the flow has been steady, and about 80% of people crossing the border through Siret customs are people who generally live near the border and come to shop or visit relatives.

5. Refugees with special needs

UNHCR asks if there are people with special needs or with various difficulties in functioning among the refugees. The representatives of the Save the Children Organizations, Rădăuțiul Civic and CNRR stated that together with Star of Hope they are currently taking care of a family, a mother who suffers from walking difficulties, with seven children, two of whom suffer from rare diseases. The refugee family is taken in by the Star of Hope Organization and accommodated at the Center in Dorohoi, where they are provided with adequate services.
